Researchers at Texas A&M and the University of Tulsa have developed a smart plastic called ATSP. The carbon-fiber-reinforced vitrimer can self-heal, change shape under heat and remain stable through repeated use. It is said to be lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. The recyclable plastic regains near-full strength after damage and withstands temperatures up to 280 °C, scientists said.
