As Bihar began voting in first phase of state elections on Thursday, PM Narendra Modi said, "Yaad rakhna hai- pehle matdaan phir jalpaan (Remember- first vote then refreshments)." He congratulated first time voters, saying, "I appeal to all voters to vote with full enthusiasm." Voting began in 121 constituencies, including Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's seats.
