Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the National Makhana Board in Purnea, Bihar. The move aims to scale up production, processing, and export of makhana (foxnut), a superfood with multiple health benefits. It is also a low-calorie food with a low glycaemic index, making it popular among health-conscious people. Bihar accounts for nearly 90% of India’s makhana production.
