A protest in Malaysia was criticised after politicians wore sanitary pads on their mouths. Protesters were opposing selection of a senator and claimed the pads represented the "airtight silence" of the state party committee towards their concerns. "The pads represent lived experiences of millions of women and should not be exploited to make a political point," a women's organisation said.
