The BJP criticised TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of indulging in politics of religion over her announcement of a ₹1.1 lakh government grant to Durga Puja organisers. BJP's state general secretary Agnimitra Paul blamed her for sidelining development and handing out doles. Giving grants for pujas can't be the objective of a government, she said.
