The Bombay High Court ordered that all idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) and up to 6 feet in height be mandatorily immersed in artificial ponds/water tanks. The order is effective until March 2026 for all festivals that require the immersion of deity idols, including Ganeshotsav and Durga Puja. The move aims to minimise the impact on the environment.
