The Supreme Court on Monday said a person may convert to Islam to take benefit of protection of Waqf Act to evade law or to defeat creditors. The court said this while staying provision mandating that a person practicing Islam for five years can create Waqf. It added there is no mechanism to ascertain that a person is practicing Islam.
