A sample collected from an ancient dry riverbed on Mars by the Perseverance rover contains "potential biosignatures"(substances that might have a biological origin), NASA confirmed. Taken from multi-billion-year-old rocks in 2024, the sample is called ''Sapphire Canyon". "[This] is the closest we have ever come to discovering life on Mars," the acting NASA Administrator said.
