A Maha Shanti Homam was organised at Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) amid a controversy over alleged presence of animal fat in ghee used to prepare 'laddoo prasadam'. The aim is "rectify the mistake and maintain the sanctity of the temple", TTD said. The laddoo were first offered to the deity in 1715.
