Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Congress and Rahul Gandhi of "always wanting to protect communal elements" amid recent incidents of meat being thrown at temples. Responding to Gaurav Gogoi’s criticism, he said, "Will a Hindu person slaughter a cow and then place a part of it in a temple?" Police have arrested 55 people so far across districts.
