Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks on voter roll irregularities indirectly support the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Assam to remove "Bangladeshis" from electoral rolls. He said, "After a long time, Rahul has indirectly supported the Election Commission. His claim establishes that SIR is needed." Rahul, however, alleged a "huge criminal fraud" in polls.
