RBI said it annually produces 15,000 tonnes of compressed blocks made from soiled rupee currency notes and use them to make furniture. Disposing such blocks in landfills or through incineration could affect soil due to notes' chemical constituents, like security threads. RBI will, thus, empanel manufacturers who'll use blocks to make particle boards, which may be used to make furniture.
