CPI(M) MP John Brittas, while referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll, said, "The original 'sir' of the 'SIR' is sitting elsewhere, not in the Election Commission." He blamed the BJP-led Centre for sabotaging the voters' list and corrupting the "very essence" of democracy. The Opposition has been demanding a parliamentary debate on the SIR.
