The IMD has issued a red alert for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts in Odisha, warning of extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 20 cm. The alert follows the intensification of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. An orange warning has also been issued for five districts, including Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Balasore, with expected rainfall between 12 and 20 cm.
