Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday stated that the abrupt closure of Mumbai's kabootar khanas is not advisable and directed BMC to allow controlled pigeon feeding. Chairing a review meeting, he stressed balancing bird welfare, environment and public health. Several Jain groups and MLAs like Parag Shah had opposed the blanket ban.
