Today marks the 75th Republic Day and also the death anniversary of HM Seervai. Seervai was a leading constitutional lawyer and served as Advocate General for 17 years. He defended Indira Gandhi's government in the Kesavananda Bharti and was given priority over the Attorney General, an act which irked the AG. His book is the magnum opus on constitutional law.
