FSSAI has said no brand can label a product as Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), unless it has been approved by WHO. It noted that the directive applies whether the term is used as standalone word or used with any prefix or suffix. Until now, 'ORS' was being used in the brand names of products like fruit-based drinks and ready-to-drink beverages.
