Renewable energies combined generated more power than coal for the first time on record in 2025, according to energy think tank Ember's report. Moreover, global solar and wind power generation outpaced electricity demand in the first half of this year, it stated. It also found that fossil fuel generation fell in China and India, but rose in US and EU.
