The Centre has granted the much-awaited forest clearance to the ₹6,947-crore Renuka multi-purpose dam, decades after it was conceived to address the water woes of the National Capital Region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the project, which will come upon the Giri river at Dadahu in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, in December 2021.
