Researchers created a single 2D sheet of MXene with up to nine transition metals, a major advancement in synthesising "high-entropy" MXenes. They found that when seven or more metals are incorporated, entropy takes over and the metals distribute randomly throughout the structure. These MXenes could enable new applications in extreme conditions like next-generation communication technologies.
