A French court has sentenced a 74-year-old retired surgeon to 20 years in jail for sexually abusing at least 299 patients, including children, over a 25-year period. The judge noted that Joel le Scouarnec "preyed on his victims at their most vulnerable, including whilst under anaesthesia". Scouarnec is already serving time for raping four children, including his nieces.
