A recent study found that people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) exhibit elevated levels of autoantibodies several years prior to the onset of RA and its symptoms, including pain. It suggested that systemic inflammation and dysregulation of B and T cell pools during the at-risk stage were associated with subsequent RA development. The study may help develop treatments to prevent RA.
