In the main event of WWE SmackDown from Norfolk, Drew McIntyre battled Randy Orton in a one-on-one match. After managing to defeat Orton, McIntyre proceeded to attack him at ringside. This led to WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returning to the show, saving his best friend before challenging Drew McIntyre to a championship match at Wrestlepalooza.
