Around 500 families of doctors who died of COVID-19 have received compensation under the PMGKP insurance scheme, an RTI by Dr KV Babu revealed. Of 2,294 total claims, only about 31% were for doctors. The Supreme Court has urged the government to protect all healthcare workers, including those in private practice, who served during the pandemic.
