Rubin telescope spots giant stellar stream behind nearby galaxy

The Rubin Telescope has spotted a massive stellar stream trailing behind galaxy M61, stretching 163,000 light-years. Rubin's camera captured the faint glow, confirming the discovery. Scientists say it formed after M61 tore apart a dwarf galaxy using tidal forces. This violent interaction produced long arcs of stars and triggered intense star formation about ten million years ago.
