Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis responded to the furore by opposition leaders, including Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray, over several civic bodies in the state directing slaughterhouses and meat shops in their jurisdiction to remain shut on Independence Day. It's not a new order but a government resolution issued in 1988, which even he was unaware of until now, Fadnavis said.
