The Indian rupee hit a record intraday low of 88.67 against the US dollar on Tuesday. This comes amid concerns over US tariffs and hike in H-1B visa fee. Meanwhile, gold prices crossed ₹1,14,000/10 grams on MCX for the first time. On Monday (22 September), the rupee had depreciated by 12 paise to close at 88.28 against the US dollar.
