South Korea's newly-elected President Lee Jae-myung had gained national attention after surviving a stabbing attack in January 2024. While visiting Busan, a man posing as a supporter had approached Lee for an autograph before suddenly stabbing him. Lee, who underwent immediate surgery, later made a full recovery. The attack was thought to have been politically driven.
