The gold of Kerala's Sabarimala temple weighed 42.8kg when it was taken for electroplating work on July 20, 2019. The consignment reached Chennai workshop of Smart Creations on August 29 with reduced weight of 38.25 kg. The artefacts were reportedly taken to a private temple in Kottayam, to temples in Andhra Pradesh and Ayyappa shrine at Sriramapuram in Bengaluru.
