Sabarimala Ayyappan temple's sponsor Unnikrishnan Potty wanted to use remaining gold after plating for a wedding for which he had sought permission from Travancore Devaswom Board via an email, NDTV reported. This comes amid alleged theft of plates used in sanctum sanctorum. TDB gave items weighed 42.8kg to Potty. However, their weight dropped to 38.258kg when they were brought back.
