Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin alleged biased allocation of central funds favouring Sanskrit over other Indian classical languages. "Sanskrit gets crores; Tamil and other South Indian languages get crocodile tears," he said. Stalin shared a report which said the Centre spent ₹2532.59 crore on promotion of Sanskrit between 2014–25 and ₹147.56 crore on Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia.
