The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to ensure that persons with disabilities (PwD) who qualify in the merit list are treated as unreserved, similar to SC/ST candidates. The bench said forcing meritorious PwD into reserved seats denies rightful opportunities to others. It asked the government to extend this principle to recruitment and promotions.
