While observing that the Courts below only commented on the brutality of the crime and failed to refer to any aggravating or mitigating circumstances, the Supreme Court has commuted the death sentence imposed upon a man who raped and killed a 10-year-old girl. The Apex Court awarded life imprisonment without remission extending to the natural life of the accused.
