The Supreme Court has directed all prison authorities to promptly identify prisoners with disabilities at the time of admission. It was deciding an appeal filed by a physically challenged advocate, challenging the final order of the Madras High Court. The said advocate was allegedly harassed and tortured when he was in custody in a Tamil Nadu prison.
