The Supreme Court ordered a judicial probe and interim compensation of ₹5 lakh to Aftab, who was jailed for nearly two months despite being granted bail on April 29 in an anti-conversion case. The Bench said, "Liberty is a very valuable and precious right...It can't be bartered away." "We hope that no other convict...is languishing in jail," it added.
