The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged custodial torture of a police constable in 2023 at a Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara. The apex court directed immediate arrest of the officials responsible for the abuse and ordered the Union Territory of J&K to pay a compensation of ₹50 lakh to the appellant-victim.
