Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of a report alleging police failed to provide CCTV footage in custodial death cases. The report said that there were 11 deaths in police custody in the last eight months. It added that the CCTV video was not provided, with the police claiming that the cameras were faulty and the videos were confidential.
