The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions seeking early delimitation for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Court observed that the proviso to Article 170(3) of the Indian Constitution which deals with composition of State Legislative Assemblies, expressly bars any readjustment in total number of seats in the Legislative Assemblies of States until the first census after the year 2026.
