SC restrains routine DNA tests, calls it an invasion of privacy

The Supreme Court of India on Monday held that courts cannot direct DNA testing as routine measure in legal proceedings. Such orders constitute a grave intrusion into bodily autonomy, privacy, and a serious invasion of personal liberty under Article 21 of the Constitution, the court stated. It must only be ordered when it's eminently necessary for securing justice, it stated.
