The Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down the Tribunal Reforms Act 2021. The bench led by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai criticised Centre for repeatedly ignoring earlier directions on appointments and service conditions for tribunal members. It held that the law violates separation of powers and judicial independence principles and amounts to legislative overwrite without curing any defects.
