The Supreme Court took suo motu cognisance of a media report highlighting the increasing number of dog bite incidents and rabies-related deaths in Delhi and surrounding areas. The bench called the facts and figures mentioned in the report alarming, especially because kids and the elderly fall prey to the deadly disease. The bench registered a writ petition in the matter.
