Scientists have created the world's first living cement by embedding electricity-producing bacteria Shewanella oneidensis into cement. By forming a living network that regenerates charge when fed nutrients, the cement stores electrical energy in walls and foundations, which can power buildings from within and support clean energy. It achieves 178.7 Wh/kg energy density and 8.3 kW/kg power density.
