Researchers have developed a single-layer multimodal sensory 'skin' for robots that can detect pressure, temperature, pain, and even distinguish multiple contact points simultaneously. Unlike other robotic touch solutions with limited, embedded sensors, entirety of this new electronic skin acts as a sensor. It has been made using flexible, low-cost gel material and can be moulded into any shape.
