Columbia Engineering researchers have developed a bioactive injectable hydrogel using extracellular vesicles (EVs), nano-particles released by cells, from yogurt for tissue engineering. "Yogurt EVs enabled the hydrogel to both mimic the mechanics of living tissue and actively engage surrounding cells, promoting healing and tissue regeneration without...additional chemical additives," they said.
