Scientists in Colombia have discovered a previously unknown human lineage after fully sequencing DNA from 6,000-year-old remains found near Bogotá in 1992. Named the Checua, the group could have died out due to climate conditions, disease or lack of food, researcher Dr Andrea Casas said. The Checua discovery includes partial remains from around 30 people and one mostly intact skull.
