Researchers at University of Copenhagen have developed a method to convert PET plastic waste into a new material called BAETA, which can efficiently absorb carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. The study shows how discarded bottles could become tools to combat climate change instead of ending up as microplastics in the environment. The method is energy-friendly, scalable and potentially lucrative.
