University of Pennsylvania-led scientists have turned a potentially deadly fungus, Aspergillus flavus, into a cancer-fighting compound by modifying its chemicals. Also known as "Pharaoh's Curse", the fungus has been linked to deaths in the excavations of Egyptian tombs. As per the study, the compound rivals FDA-approved drugs like cytarabine and daunorubicin, that are used to treat leukaemia.
