The rise in sea level along the Indian Ocean coast has exceeded the global average, increasing the risks for low-lying areas and coastal populations, according to World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). Average sea surface temperatures in the northern Arabian Sea and Pacific Ocean increased at a rate of 0.24°C per decade, which is significantly faster than the global trend, WMO added.
