Akusekijima, a remote Japanese island, has faced more than 1,800 earthquakes in the past three weeks, forcing 75% of its population to evacuate to the mainland. A 52-year-old resident told CNN that he is scared and often struggles to sleep amid the shaking. "The earthquakes seem endless...Even in my sleep, I can feel it approaching from a distance," he added.
