As per a study published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, CEOs with Machiavellian personality, someone who is self-interested, unemotional and manipulative, earn more than their peers. Machiavellian CEOs manage to negotiate lucrative compensation even when their companies perform poorly, the study stated. They also receive larger severance packages, it added.
